DESIGN

Defining The Dilemma

Whether it is a small residential project or a commercial high-rise building, new build design or a renovation project, our design process starts with asking questions. What is the design need, constraints and requirements? Who the design is for and what’s are the client’s vision and expectations? It is important for us to align our vision with that of the client’s and get to the best solution possible, for the satisfaction of everyone involved.

Collecting Data

Gathering information about the problem, design site and client needs is important to identify direct and indirect design opportunities as well as challenges that can arise later. Collecting ample information about the project and deeper understanding of client’s goals allows us to articulate general project expectations and agreements – we call it the “Program”. We establish and refine the rough strategies, budgets and timelines within the “Program” during this step.

Brainstorming and Exploring Possibilities

We believe in free and divergent thinking to explore various design possibilities. Good design is a result of teamwork. Best solutions come when people of various background share, discuss and build upon various ideas on the table. We listen to expert opinion, look back at our experience from past projects and assess available options to select the design approach.

Developing Solution

We build upon our best design idea to create the optimal solution. As we dive into the design details, we further refine and improve upon the nuances of various design aspects. We revisit our initial research and analyze new information to continuously improve our solution throughout the project.

Get Feedback and Improve

We welcome constructive feedback and open discussions on ways to further improve our solution. We value communicating and listening to the client and end users during every step of the design process. We test our solution, re-evaluate, listen to feedback, make changes and run multiple iterations before settling on a final design.

Final Design and Execution

After we complete all refinements, we can finally settle on our best solution. We create and communicate our design to all parties in a report and/or drawings. As important the design is, it is equally important to communicate the final design to all parties effectively for the highest quality of the finished product. Our designs reflect our vision to add value – for our clients and society as a whole.
